Position Overview

Location: Candidates will be considered for remote work options.

This role involves the comprehensive oversight of a portfolio dedicated to Structured Finance and Leasing at Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc. (MHCA). The primary responsibilities include the continuous monitoring and management of the portfolio, which encompasses the creation of credit underwriting documents to support amendments, modifications, and extensions of current client agreements. Critical aspects of this position include managing credit risk, ensuring compliance, preparing internal reports, and maintaining robust relationships with clients and agent banks.

The incumbent is expected to understand, adhere to, and uphold the internal control systems relevant to the essential functions of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of Structured Finance's credit policies and operational protocols.
  • Proactively identify negative client trends and implement necessary measures for resolution to minimize credit loss exposure. Ensure timely updates to risk ratings for borrowers as required.
  • Assist in preparing trend analysis and contribute to the quarterly portfolio review presentations.
  • Conduct due diligence for credit underwriting related to amendments, modifications, and extensions of existing client agreements.
  • Participate in bank meetings, either in person or via teleconference.
  • Collaborate with agent banks to verify that covenant and financial reporting aligns with loan documentation requirements.
  • Possess a solid understanding of various industry dynamics and the impact of economic conditions on credit quality and transaction structures.
  • Work alongside underwriters to facilitate the seamless onboarding of new business.
  • Support the underwriting process for new business as necessary.
Decision-Making Authority
  • Conduct credit assessments, structure transactions, and communicate within company-prepared guidelines.
  • Exercise credit signature authority in line with established credit policy guidelines.
  • Manage portfolio risk and mitigate loan losses to acceptable levels.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience with syndicated credits and asset-based lending products, including underwriting, structuring, and documentation requirements for senior secured lending.
  • Strong analytical skills with financial statements (audits, tax returns, etc.).
  • Proficient in software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce).
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Effective time management skills with the capacity to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude, understanding their role in contributing to overall company success.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in private credit transactions and portfolio management.
  • Minimum of 10 years in commercial or asset-based lending.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects is advantageous.
Working Conditions
  • Work hours may vary and could require evening commitments based on business needs; overtime may be necessary.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel for client visits and industry events may be required.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to operate office equipment with digital dexterity.
  • Light lifting and carrying of materials as needed.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to navigate between office locations.
