Key responsibilities encompass delivering mechanical design assistance, enhancing product designs for cost-effectiveness, validating simulation techniques through empirical testing, and collaborating with R&D on pioneering projects. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory, alongside a minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing setting (or 7 years with a Master's degree). Proficiency in mechanical design and simulation is essential, along with strong communication skills and the willingness to travel up to 70% of the time. A Master's degree is advantageous, though substantial experience in relevant domains may be considered.
Work Location:This hybrid position is primarily based at one of Hubbell's strategic sites.
Daily Responsibilities- Serve as the authority on simulation and mold design, including finite element analysis (FEA) and mold flow analysis.
- Deliver timely mechanical design support and mold-flow simulation services to diverse engineering teams.
- Enhance product design and manufacturing processes for improved cost and operational efficiency.
- Validate simulation methodologies through physical product testing at Hubbell's testing facilities.
- Collaborate with research and development teams on various initiatives, including new materials, innovative manufacturing processes, and product development.
- Provide additional engineering services, including monthly reporting and training for new users, while mentoring less experienced team members on simulation techniques.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
- At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a Bachelor's degree, or 7 years with a Master's degree.
- Prior experience in mechanical design, finite element analysis, product testing, quality assurance, standards engineering, and/or reliability engineering is preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex subjects, often utilizing teleconferencing tools, presentations, and public speaking.
- Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
- A Master's degree or higher in engineering is preferred, but candidates with significant relevant experience and knowledge in simulation and design methods will be considered.
