Job Summary:

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Marion, IL. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and constructing manufacturing facilities and related structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering or other engineering-related degree required and 5-7 years' experience.
  • OR Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.
  • Minitab.
  • Candidates shall be self-directed and capable of performing in a very dynamic environment.
  • Job assignments will require an individual to work independently at times while being a member of a multi-department team at other times.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency with MS Office 365 tools.
