The City of Chicago's Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to act as a project engineer for intricate infrastructure and building construction, maintenance, and renovation projects, or to serve as a working supervisor over a small engineering team while managing their own projects; and performs related duties as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and update status spreadsheets for ongoing construction contracts.
Generate weekly and monthly progress reports for construction contracts.
Receive and manage project documentation files and assign them for auditing.
Communicate with Resident Engineers to resolve outstanding issues on construction contracts.
Prepare progress payment vouchers for construction contracts.
Compile change order packages and requisitions for construction contracts.
Oversee progress payment reconciliations between the city and vendors.
Organize and participate in meetings with various stakeholders, management, and contractors.
Conduct closeout audits for term and standard construction projects.
Engage in the development of data management systems.
Perform duties related to the development and use of Engineering Project Systems (EPS).
Additional responsibilities may be assigned for this position.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field from an accredited college or university, supplemented by three years of progressively responsible Civil Engineering experience, including one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, provided the minimum degree requirement is met.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (R.P.E.) is mandatory.At the time of employment, candidates must have obtained Registration as a Professional Engineer (R.P.E.) in the State of Illinois.
Some positions may necessitate a valid State of Illinois driver's license.IMPORTANT NOTE:
Ability to access work sites during various stages of construction or repair.

This position requires applicants to participate in an interview. The candidate(s) who best meet the qualifications necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
