Position Overview

The American Heart Association (AHA) is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to contribute to our mission of promoting healthier lives. This role is integral to our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in our accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily accounting functions and ensure timely month-end and year-end financial closings.
  • Manage the creation and oversight of work order requests across various entities.
  • Prepare and present weekly financial reports, including disbursement and new hire data.
  • Conduct thorough monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts, including bank, payroll, and asset accounts.
  • Support external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and insights into accounting procedures.
  • Facilitate the bi-weekly payroll data upload into the accounting system and resolve any discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and audit standards is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is necessary.
  • Experience with automated accounting systems is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
