Role Summary

The Lead Preschool Instructor is tasked with fostering a nurturing and developmentally suitable educational atmosphere. This role entails managing classroom dynamics and ensuring smooth operations. Key duties include engaging with children, maintaining open lines of communication with parents, and collaborating effectively with the Teacher Assistant and Classroom Support Teacher.

Employment Status

This is a full-time role with EarlystART and is classified as non-exempt under U.S. Department of Labor regulations.

Reporting Structure

The Lead Preschool Instructor will report directly to the Center Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the Creative Curriculum and adhere to developmentally appropriate practices
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment both indoors and outdoors
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding children and family information, sharing relevant updates with the Family Advocate as necessary
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the center to meet licensing standards
  • Design and execute weekly lesson plans in collaboration with the Teacher Assistant
  • Tailor activities to meet the individual interests and needs of children, working alongside the Teacher Assistant
  • Maintain accurate attendance and meal records for the CACFP
  • Practice family-style dining by sharing meals with the children daily
  • Observe and document anecdotal notes on each child for their portfolio
  • Conduct developmental screenings (ASQ) and other assessments within the initial 30-45 days of a child's enrollment
  • Complete assessments for each child three times throughout the academic year
  • Facilitate all necessary parent-teacher conferences and home visits
  • Immediately report significant behavioral concerns to the Early Learning Director
  • Report any suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state licensing regulations and organizational procedures
  • Participate in all mandatory staff meetings, events, and professional development opportunities
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • A minimum of 30 credit hours in Child Growth and Development
  • MO DESE Teaching Certification (mandatory)
  • At least 12 months of experience in an early childhood educational setting
