Position Overview

Compensation: $21-$23.50/hr

Role Summary

The Lead Educator is tasked with creating a nurturing and developmentally suitable learning atmosphere. This role encompasses the management and functionality of the classroom. Key responsibilities include fostering positive interactions with children, engaging with families, and collaborating effectively with the Teacher Assistant and Classroom Support Teacher.

Core Responsibilities

  • Implement the Creative Curriculum alongside developmentally appropriate methodologies.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of children and family data, sharing relevant information with the Family Advocate as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the center to meet licensing standards.
  • Design and execute weekly lesson plans in partnership with the Teacher Assistant.
  • Keep precise records of CACFP attendance and meal documentation.
  • Engage in family-style meal serving, dining with the children daily.
  • Observe and document anecdotal notes on each child for their individual portfolio.
  • Conduct developmental screenings (ASQ) and other assessments within the initial 30-45 days of a child's enrollment.
  • Perform assessments for each child three times throughout the academic year.
  • Facilitate all required parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
  • Fulfill all other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • A minimum of 30 credit hours in Child Growth and Development.
  • MO DESE Teaching Certification.
  • At least 12 months of experience in an early childhood educational setting.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Frequent activities including bending, walking, squatting, lifting, standing, and/or sitting.
  • Exposure to children's illnesses and varying environmental conditions.
