Job Summary

Gana-A'Yoo, Limited - Antarctic Program is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Baker to join our team at McMurdo Station. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading the production of high-quality baked goods and pastries, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the bakery team in the production of high-volume breads and pastries, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Develop and implement standardized recipes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective production.
  • Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Food Service Supervisor to plan and execute menu items, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and train team members to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and control inventory, ordering supplies as needed to maintain optimal levels.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sous Chef or Food Service Supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a commercial baking environment, with a focus on high-volume production.
  • Valid driver's license and U.S. Passport required.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and train team members.
  • Ability to lift up to the safety regulation maximum in a safe manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a food service environment in Antarctica.
  • High-volume baking experience, with a focus on bread production.
  • Knowledge of standardized recipes and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
