Job Summary

The Office of the Secretary of Defense is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Innovation Leader to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of our innovation strategy, driving collaboration between defense organizations and the broader innovation ecosystem, and ensuring the successful implementation of our initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the strategy for our expanding network of innovation hubs, including current sites and future expansions.
  • Oversee the regional network of physical and virtual spaces, and regional representatives connecting defense innovation organizations with the broader defense ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to provide guidance on program objectives and ensure alignment with our organization's goals.
  • Provide oversight and risk management for regionally oriented commercial operations, ensuring alignment with our objectives and managing potential challenges proactively.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program.
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment and are subjected to random drug testing.
  • Position has been designated as Top-Secret/SCI Security designation level such as Special Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • The incumbent must adhere to DoD Standards of Conduct.
  • Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, is required.
  • This position may require more than 30% travel.
Qualifications
  • Time in Grade: For entry at the NH-IV (GS-14/15) level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a NH-III (GS-13) or higher grade in the Federal Service.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Specialized Experience: For the NH-IV (GS-14/15), you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the NH-III (GS-13) grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to NH-IV (GS-14/15) if outside the Federal service.
