Position Overview

Are you dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children and families?

The Foster Care Program Coordinator will oversee and manage a range of Foster Care initiatives to ensure comprehensive, culturally sensitive support for unaccompanied refugee and migrant youth and their families. This role serves as a key link between Global Refuge partner organizations, Global Refuge, and federal foster care authorities. The Coordinator will enhance service quality and effectiveness through proactive program management, data oversight, trend evaluation, training, and technical support.

This position offers the flexibility of remote work with occasional travel as necessary.

Global Refuge, previously known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), is a nonprofit organization committed to assisting newcomers seeking safety and support. Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee Foster Care grants to partner agencies, ensuring adherence to child welfare best practices and compliance with Global Refuge and ORR policies.
  • Facilitate collaboration among Foster Care partners providing services to unaccompanied migrant and refugee children, ensuring effective communication and peer learning.
  • Offer support and technical guidance to partners regarding service delivery, documentation, reporting, and compliance with child welfare standards.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of Foster Care partners to evaluate program performance and compliance with state and federal standards, identifying trends and service gaps.
  • Assess training needs and program challenges, developing resources and tools to enhance service delivery in line with recognized standards.
  • Assist in preparing various governmental reports, including quarterly and annual evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director for Foster Care to manage network capacity, including partner recruitment and retention.
  • Coordinate regular collaboration with Global Refuge partners and other stakeholders involved in service provision.
  • Support the Associate Director for Foster Care in ensuring effective communication regarding developments and initiatives.
  • Represent Global Refuge Children's Services at external meetings and training sessions.
  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives and meetings, contributing to strategic goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or a related behavioral science field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in child welfare systems and practices.
  • At least three years of managerial experience with increasing responsibilities in program management and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently, prioritizing tasks and exercising sound judgment.
  • Experience in developing and managing partnerships across various systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing training and technical assistance.
  • Knowledge of legal and political issues related to immigration and child welfare.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to working in a diverse and cross-cultural environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
