About the Role:

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Intern to support the Environmental Services Section. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in reviewing MassDOT projects statewide to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project construction plans and analyze project areas using ArcGIS
  • Evaluate projects against environmental regulations and develop permit applications
  • Perform occasional field work, including site visits, wetland delineations, and rare species monitoring
  • Support the Stormwater Unit in implementing the statewide Stormwater Program

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Coursework or familiarity in hydrology and hydraulics, environmental policy, wetland science, hazardous materials, or conservation biology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS
  • Excellent organizational abilities and ability to operate effectively under pressure
