About the Position

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Assistant to join its Lighting and Electrical Division. This seasonal role will play a crucial part in maintaining and improving the state's streetlight infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the creation and management of streetlights data, including mapping and updating data points in GIS systems.
  2. Clean and quality-check existing and new data via fieldwork and office tasks.
  3. Collect data in the field using GPS and ArcGIS Field Maps, and edit data in ArcGIS Pro.
  4. Develop documentation for fieldwork techniques, editing techniques, and other workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong background in GIS, cartography, and data editing.
  • Fieldwork experience with GPS and ArcGIS.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
