The Estimator for E-Frontiers is tasked with efficiently generating comprehensive estimates for general contracting endeavors, particularly within the supermarket and commercial retail sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to ensure the delivery of top-notch quality bids while adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Manage a diverse range of projects, including both general contracting and in-house initiatives, spanning from small to highly complex undertakings.
  • Engage closely with fellow estimators, assistant estimators, and project coordinators, contributing valuable insights throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct detailed takeoffs and quantity assessments for both in-house and subcontractor trades.
  • Participate in site walkthroughs with clients, subcontractors, and team members to assess project requirements.
  • Evaluate subcontractor prequalifications, identifying strengths and weaknesses to ensure the selection of quality subcontractors.
  • Secure appropriately qualified subcontractor coverage for each trade involved.
  • Thoroughly analyze bid requirements to ensure compliance with all deadlines.
  • Review and interpret bid documents to ascertain the scope of work required.
  • Highlight relevant drawings and execute necessary take-offs for pertinent trades.
  • Create a Clarification Sheet to delineate each trade's scope of work.
  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) to address any discrepancies in the bid documents.
  • Attend site walkthroughs with clients and subcontractors to assess field conditions.
  • Discuss project scope with subcontractors to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Analyze subcontractor proposals to validate their scope of work.
  • Compile and finalize bids for review by the Chief Estimator.
  • Consolidate leveling sheets based on clarifications received.
  • Facilitate buyout meetings with construction teams to discuss awarded bids.
  • Negotiate final contract pricing with subcontractors as necessary, ensuring all Letters of Award are executed prior to project commencement.
  • Engage in kickoff and closeout meetings, providing accurate reports on general conditions and labor hours.
  • Develop and maintain various logs, including Bid Logs, Databases, Unit Costs, and Equipment & Material records.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of estimating experience in the retail construction sector is preferred.
  • A degree in Architecture or Engineering is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with open store renovations, new fit-out projects, and site work is essential.
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary.
  • Demonstrated competencies in analytical thinking, problem-solving, planning, organization, and dependability are essential for success in this role.
