Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the role of Director of Sports Turf Management. This position will report directly to the Assistant Athletics Director and will be responsible for supervising a dedicated team of nine staff members. The primary focus will be on the effective management of turf operations for all athletic fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise a team of nine union workers.
  2. Research and implement the latest advancements in field maintenance and irrigation techniques.
  3. Formulate strategic plans for equipment utilization, staffing, and water conservation.
  4. Oversee project activities, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals while coordinating with staff and external partners.
  5. Identify and resolve issues that span multiple technical areas, developing programs within assigned facilities.
  6. Manage daily operations and administration of assigned facilities, including work scheduling and staff coordination.
  7. Oversee performance evaluations and staffing needs for the department.
  8. Develop and manage budgets related to turf management, including staffing and maintenance costs.
  9. Administer ongoing service contracts as necessary.
  10. Contribute to strategic planning for facility projects and long-term program development.
  11. Provide insights into financial planning and policy development for the department.
  12. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. A minimum of six years of experience in sports turf management is preferred.
  3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with various stakeholders.
  4. Strong organizational skills and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  5. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines effectively.
  6. In-depth knowledge of current trends and technologies in turf management.
  7. Demonstrated independent judgment and self-motivation.
