The Position

As a Culinary Operations Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in managing the daily kitchen functions and ensuring our culinary team consistently delivers outstanding dining experiences. Your leadership will set the standard for food quality, safety, and operational efficiency while promoting a positive workplace culture.

  • Team Leadership: Oversee and coordinate the efforts of kitchen personnel, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. Offer mentorship and training to cultivate a cohesive and effective team.
  • Quality Assurance: Supervise the preparation, presentation, and quality of all menu offerings. Ensure that every dish aligns with Living Room LA's standards for flavor, consistency, and visual appeal before serving.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily kitchen activities, including inventory management, supply ordering, and ensuring all stations are adequately stocked and ready for service.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene: Enforce strict compliance with food safety and sanitation protocols, conducting regular inspections of kitchen areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Staffing & Scheduling: Assist in developing and managing staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for all shifts. Address staffing challenges, including training new employees and managing performance issues.
  • Cost Control: Monitor food costs, implement portion control, and reduce waste. Collaborate with the Executive Chef to devise strategies for maintaining profitability while delivering high-quality meals.
  • Issue Resolution: Tackle any challenges that arise during service, from equipment failures to staff conflicts, with a calm and solution-focused mindset. Ensure that any guest concerns regarding food quality or service are addressed promptly.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the Executive Chef and management team to create and launch new menu items, seasonal specials, and promotional events.

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a culinary role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity within a fast-paced, upscale dining environment.
  • Culinary Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety regulations. Proven ability to execute and oversee the preparation of high-quality dishes.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of leading, motivating, and developing a team in a high-pressure setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational capabilities, with experience in managing kitchen operations, inventory, and staffing. Attention to detail is vital.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think quickly and handle unexpected situations effectively and calmly.
  • Flexible Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Food Handler Certification: Must hold a valid food handler's certificate; additional certifications (e.g., ServSafe) are advantageous.
