Clinical Research Nurse

Job Summary:
As a Clinical Research Nurse at UNC Health Care, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of clinical trials by providing education and communication on research activities and ensuring compliance with protocols and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review research protocols to determine availability of resources, subjects, and equipment needs.
- Educate patients and families about clinical trials, potential benefits, and goals of clinical research.
- Communicate with physicians and other staff concerning protocols that are open to enrollment.
- Obtain written informed consent with appropriate HIPAA authorization from each patient prior to study enrollment.
- Conduct studies as outlined by protocol.
- Follow established guidelines in the collection of data.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for each study by following IRB policies and procedures, study requirements, federal regulations, etc.
- Participate in sponsor audits and/or regulatory inspections of records and documents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (BSN) from an accredited school of Nursing. Master's preferred.
- RN NC LIC; BCLS
- Certification in Specialty and Clinical Research preferred.
- Two years of relevant experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Work Environment:
This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
This is not a State employed position.
