Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior System Safety Engineer to enhance our Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of engineering hardware, including mechanical and electrical schematics, to identify fault tolerance, potential hazards, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with system testing and operational procedures to ensure effective safety controls are established.
  • Engage with integrated product teams to mitigate hazards or implement appropriate safety measures.
  • Work alongside Program Management and government authorities throughout the program lifecycle, from initiation to decommissioning.
Additional Duties:
  • Execute System Safety Program or Design analyses.
  • Oversee large safety programs or multiple mid-sized projects, including:
    • Monitoring technical execution of programs.
    • Interfacing with stakeholders such as customers and subcontractors.
    • Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for approval.
  • Present safety evaluations during technical reviews and safety approval processes.
  • Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
  • Generate internal and customer reports detailing various analyses pertinent to the System Safety program.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to gain comprehensive insights into product architecture and design.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering. An advanced degree may substitute for additional experience.
  • Proven experience in System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with command and control systems or weapon combat systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD System Safety Programs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management capabilities.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.
  • Master's Degree in a STEM field.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is between 77,000 USD and 163,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications. Hired candidates may be eligible for various benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans. Specific benefits may vary based on the business unit and collective bargaining agreements.
