Job Summary

The Construction Inspector 2 will be responsible for inspecting highway, roadway, and bridge construction activities, planning, and coordinating construction inspection. This role will also involve quality assurance inspections of bridge and transportation projects, including foundations, paving, earthwork, and coordination with contractors, other inspectors, surveyors, and materials testers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect highway, roadway, and bridge construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Plan and coordinate construction inspection activities, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections of bridge and transportation projects, including foundations, paving, earthwork, and other related activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, other inspectors, surveyors, and materials testers to ensure project progress and quality.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports of construction site activity, including field measurements for progress payment and required reports on progress, safety, quality, schedule, and budget status.
  • Take a leadership role in the absence of the Resident Engineer, coordinating with others to ensure project progress and quality.
  • Perform calculations to support the technical aspects of the work, including shoring, falsework, and quantities.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 10 years' experience working in construction inspection and management.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with HDR's vehicle policy.
  • May be subject to a pre-employment drug test and drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment based on HDR's Drug Testing and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required, Prolog, Primavera, etc. desired.
