Job Summary

The University of California, Irvine seeks a highly skilled Clinical Information Systems Professional to join our team. As a key member of our clinical enterprise, you will be responsible for the development, upgrade, enhancement, and support of our clinical information systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a functional and technical leader in the development and maintenance of clinical information systems.
  • Independently manage large modules of an enterprise clinical information system or department specialty system.
  • Facilitate decisions and work efforts that affect applications and patient care practices.
  • Participate in the analysis and design of data communication links between systems.
Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the health system.
  • Ability to function as a project leader and project member.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to self-initiate and effectively problem-solve issues.
  • Working knowledge of inpatient and/or ambulatory clinic workflows.
  • Experience using/implementing/supporting an EMR in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with Epic EMR and its various modules.
  • Understanding of Work Flow Engine Rule and Order Transmittal.
  • Understanding of Epic User Security.
  • Current certification in Epic MyChart.
  • Current certification in Epic Welcome.
  • 3-5 years Epic MyChart/Welcome build experience.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution.
  • Must be willing to participate in 24-hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer.
  • Must have working knowledge of client/server systems, relational database structures, and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Epic Ambulatory module.
  • Project Coordination/management experience.
  • Experience with Data Courier.
  • Experience with the Phoenix, Kaleidoscope, Welcome, and Haiku/Canto Epic Modules.
  • Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of HL7 and other interface/integration strategies.
