We are seeking a skilled Health Information Coder II to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our clinical coding team, you will be responsible for abstracting and coding outpatient visits, including emergency department, ambulatory surgery, and clinic visits, using ICD-10 CM and CPT codes.
Key Responsibilities- Abstract and code outpatient visits using ICD-10 CM and CPT codes
- Utilize 3M encoder and SMS/Invision computer systems for coding and data entry
- Prepare and compile daily, weekly, and monthly production reports
- Participate in departmental quality improvement projects
- Perform related duties as assigned to meet operational needs
- Minimum five years of acute hospital coding experience
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process, and medical terminology
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Credentialed as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
- Background check and live scan
- Legal right to work in the United States
- Vaccination policies
- Smoking and tobacco policy
- Drug-free environment
