Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at Lexington Medical Center. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks related to the construction and maintenance of hospital facilities and equipment, with a primary emphasis on electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency repairs on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment, including 120/208 and 277/480VAC equipment and circuits.
  • Work on energy plant electrical system troubleshooting and maintenance, including 4160V transformers and substations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot emergency generators, knowledgeable of generator setpoints and user interface, and perform generator and switchgear testing per code.
  • Perform job hazard analysis and hot work as required.
  • Monitor vendors performing work on electrical systems and recognize unsatisfactory work.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA safety standards for electrical work.
  • Assist in updating electrical system schedules and diagrams as changes in the hospital occur.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs to Fire Alarm systems, coordinating with licensed fire alarm vendors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair surgical lights or coordinate repairs with vendors.
  • Construct and repair building parts and fixtures, furniture, and special equipment, inspecting work sites to determine work to be done, calculating quantities of materials needed, and requisitioning hardware and supplies.
  • Evaluate work orders and project requirements, coordinating with appropriate personnel to plan and execute completion of tasks.
  • Work with minimal supervision on projects such as erecting walls/infection control barriers, applying plasterboards, repairing or installing building fixtures, including doors, locks, windows, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 Years of Experience in Maintenance/Construction
  • Certification from the Municipal Association of South Carolina or other approved licensing board in electrical
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Ability to read technical service manuals and blueprints
