Automation Electrical Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Automation Electrical Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and enhancement of automated systems and equipment within a pharmaceutical and biomedical context.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and implement corrective measures in response to equipment issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to communicate equipment status and maintenance timelines.
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a diverse range of electrical, electro-mechanical, and PLC-based systems.
- Assist in the execution of upgrades and new engineering or maintenance initiatives.
- Take appropriate actions to rectify or report equipment failures or unsafe operational practices.
- Disassemble and repair electronic and instrumentation devices.
- Ensure that equipment and work environments comply with relevant safety laws and regulations.
- Perform equipment changeovers and sanitation tasks.
- Engage in both short- and long-term projects, working independently or as part of a team.
- Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on process control instrumentation.
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in maintaining manufacturing or production equipment, ideally in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment.
- Fundamental knowledge and maintenance experience with robotics, PLCs, motor controls, sensors, and automation components.
- Ability to troubleshoot using electrical schematics and PLC program documentation.
- Understanding of basic electrical codes to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Experience with hand tools, personal safety equipment, and electronic measurement devices.
- Capability to operate basic power tools and shop equipment.
- A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, up to four hours at a time.
- Manual dexterity to perform all job functions effectively.
The estimated compensation for the Automation Electrical Specialist role is competitive and includes participation in the company bonus pool.
