The Hawaii Group is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join its team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for managing the client service experience and deliverables, including financial statements and management reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client relationships and ensure deadlines are met
- Review workpapers and reconciliations to support financial statement closing
- Create, update, and monitor management reports
- Take leadership in workpaper documentation and procedures for streamlining, quality, accuracy, and efficiency
- Advise clients on entity types, formation, and business law
- Stay up-to-date with industry changes and GAAP
- Design complex procedures for multi-entity organizations
- Complete software certification courses and exams
- Emphasize technology and evaluate processes and procedures for implementation efficiencies
Client Service
- Deliver best-in-class customer service to clients and employees
- Understand client business and industry, and establish a full understanding of client service needs
- Serve as the primary liaison with client personnel
- Manage client expectations regarding deliverables, budgets, and timelines
- Serve as the client's trusted advisor
Business Development
- Identify new opportunities for clients and promote other company services
- Take a leadership role in implementing new clients
- Ability to identify value-added services and planning opportunities
Practice Management
- Assist with new client implementation process
- Prepare proposals for services, set budgets, and assign projects to team
- Assist with new client interviews and develop scope-of-work proposals and engagement letters
- Manage a large number of clients and client projects
Staff Management
- Work closely with staff to answer questions and provide help
- Manage staff's billable hours and assist with client invoicing
- Complete evaluations for junior staff and provide performance evaluation feedback
- Play an integral role in the decision-making process of hiring
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably spent both in Public Accounting and industry
- CPA license highly preferred, but not required
- Proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Ultra Tax, Lacerte, Drake, or other professional tax software, and knowledge of QuickBooks, AccPac, Intacct, or other accounting/bookkeeping software would be helpful

Location
The Hawaii Group is a locally staffed outsourced accounting and tax firm serving small to medium-sized businesses. This position requires that the applicant live in Oahu.
