Job Title: Vice President of Development

At Creative Discovery Museum, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Development to lead our fundraising efforts and drive growth in contributed revenue.

Job Summary

The Vice President of Development will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the Museum's comprehensive fundraising plan, strategies, and goals. This includes overseeing annual and capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, planned giving, membership, fundraising events, and private rentals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including strategies and goals for annual and capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, planned giving, membership, fundraising events, and private rentals.
  2. Lead the Development Committee and work closely with the Board of Trustees, museum volunteers, and community partners to achieve fundraising goals.
  3. Conduct major requests of donors, corporations, and foundations, and execute cultivation events for annual and capital prospects.
  4. Prepare and administer the annual fundraising budget, and direct the preparation of government and foundation grant proposals.
  5. Develop and implement planned giving programs, and identify corporate sponsor prospects and solicit sponsorships.
  6. Oversee recognition and acknowledgment of all donors, and support the Director of Membership & Events with membership, fundraising events, and private rental programs.
  7. Direct and support the annual gala, including management of special event committee volunteers and solicitation of sponsorships.
  8. Serve as one of the Museum's spokespersons and brand ambassadors, and directly supervise the Development Manager and Director of Membership & Events.
Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience and demonstrated success in fundraising or related field.
  • Ability to work well with people and in team efforts, and demonstrated ability to work with Board of Trustees and volunteers.
  • Strong networking skills, and strong customer service orientation.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong budgeting and financial skills, and excellent computer skills, including presentation and database management.
Education and Experience
  • College degree preferred, but commensurate experience may be applied.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in non-profit fundraising or related fields.
  • Minimum of five (5) years management experience.
Working Conditions

Most of the duties must be performed onsite at the Museum. Up to 20% of the tasks may be completed remotely.

Physical Demands

Lifting to 50 pounds unassisted, or 100 pounds assisted may be required at events.
