Job Overview

We are seeking a talented Cake Decorator to join our esteemed bakery team at Katella Deli. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for pastry arts and demonstrate exceptional skills in cake decoration.


Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Preparing cakes, pastries, icings, fillings, and all necessary components for decoration.
  • Executing the setup, icing, and decoration of cakes in various sizes and shapes from start to finish.
  • Designing custom cakes for special events, adhering to client specifications and unique requests.
  • Decorating cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods for display and retail sales.
  • Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet Katella Deli's quality standards for weight, specifications, and presentation.
  • Utilizing knowledge of various icing techniques, color combinations, and mixing methods, including working with buttercream, fondant, and chocolate.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in pastry or cake decoration.
  • A valid California Food Handlers card, as required for food service employees.
  • A flexible schedule with availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus, but not mandatory.
  • The ability to read and comprehend recipes, safety documents, and other relevant materials.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to:

  • Engage in verbal communication and active listening.
  • Stand and walk throughout the entire shift.
  • Utilize hands and arms for reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds.

Employees may be exposed to airborne particles and hazardous materials in a moderate to loud work environment.
