We are seeking a talented Cake Decorator to join our team at Katella Deli. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for baking and decorating, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing a variety of cakes, pastries, icings, fillings, and other essential items for decoration.
- Executing the setup, icing, and decoration of cakes in various sizes and shapes from inception to completion.
- Designing custom cakes for special events, adhering to client specifications and unique requests.
- Decorating cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and assorted baked goods for display and retail sales.
- Evaluating finished products to ensure they meet Katella Deli's quality standards in terms of weight, specifications, and presentation.
- Utilizing various icing techniques, including borders, flowers, and writing, while demonstrating knowledge of color combinations and mixing techniques with buttercream, fondant, and chocolate.
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following:
- A minimum of three years of experience in pastry or cake decorating.
- A valid California Food Handlers card is mandatory for all food service personnel.
- A flexible schedule, with availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous but not essential.
- Proficiency in reading recipes, safety documents, and other relevant materials.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to:
- Engage in frequent communication, both verbal and auditory.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Utilize hands and arms for reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds regularly.
- Handle bakery tools and equipment while being exposed to airborne particles and potentially hazardous materials.
- Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
