We are seeking a talented Cake Decorator to join our esteemed team at Katella Deli. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for baking and cake artistry, with a focus on creating visually stunning and delicious products.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Preparing a variety of cakes, pastries, icings, fillings, and other essential components for decoration.
- Executing the setup, icing, and decoration of cakes in various sizes and shapes from inception to completion.
- Designing custom cakes for special events, adhering to client specifications and unique requests.
- Decorating cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods for display and retail sales.
- Conducting quality inspections of finished bakery items to ensure they meet Katella Deli's standards for quality, weight, specifications, and presentation.
- Demonstrating knowledge of diverse icing techniques, including borders, flowers, and writing, as well as color theory and mixing, particularly with buttercream, fondant, and chocolate.
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following:
- A minimum of three years of experience in pastry or cake decoration, showcasing a genuine passion for the bakery industry.
- A valid California Food Handlers card, as required for food service personnel.
- A flexible schedule with the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous, though not mandatory.
- Capability to read and comprehend recipes, safety documents, and other job-related materials.
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to communicate effectively, walk, and stand for extended periods. The role necessitates the continuous use of hands and arms for reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Employees may frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds. Specific sensory abilities required include sight and hearing. Additionally, employees will handle various tools and bakery equipment and may be exposed to airborne particles and hazardous materials. The work environment is characterized by moderate to loud noise levels.
