Key Responsibilities
The primary duties encompass, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepares a variety of cakes, pastries, icings, fillings, and all other necessary components required for decoration.
- Handles the setup, icing, and decoration of cakes in various sizes and shapes from inception to completion.
- Creates custom cake designs for special events, adhering to clients' specifications and unique requests.
- Adorns cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and other baked items for presentation and retail display.
- Evaluates finished bakery products in accordance with Katella Deli's quality standards, including weight, specifications, and visual appeal.
- Possesses knowledge of diverse icing techniques, floral designs, and writing methods, including color theory and mixing, as well as proficiency in buttercream, fondant, and chocolate.
Essential Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- A strong enthusiasm for working in a bakery setting with a minimum of three years of relevant pastry or cake decorating experience.
- A valid California Food Handlers card is mandatory for all food service personnel involved in food preparation, storage, and service.
- A readiness to work during mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a sometimes high-pressure environment.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous, though not required.
- Capability to comprehend recipes, safety guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively.
The employee must be able to walk and stand throughout the entire shift, with continuous use of hands and arms for reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
The employee frequently needs to lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds. Specific sensory abilities required for this role include sight and hearing.During the performance of this job, the employee is expected to handle tools and bakery equipment and may be exposed to airborne particles and hazardous materials.
The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud.-
