Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Independent Living Advisor to enhance our residential program.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves maintaining a secure, tidy, and orderly living environment by effectively overseeing student conduct.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurate tracking of student attendance.
  • Providing mentorship and support to students regarding conduct and interpersonal relationships.
  • Observing and assessing student activities and behaviors.
  • Assisting with the upkeep and organization of dormitory facilities.
  • Delivering training focused on independent living skills and leadership development.
  • Encouraging positive behaviors while addressing any negative actions.
  • Documenting shift activities, entering relevant data, and reporting any incidents.
  • Collaborating with the dormitory team and offering case management assistance.
  • Working in partnership with fellow team members and advisors.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience working with at-risk youth populations.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to manage deadlines and navigate stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and similar software.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:

  • Prior experience in a residential setting is advantageous.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.

ADA COMPLIANCE:

Accommodations will be provided in accordance with ADA guidelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
  • Effective hearing and speaking skills for in-person and telephone interactions.
  • Visual capabilities for reading documents and screens.
  • Flexibility to sit, stand, and walk as required.
  • Competence in computer operations and office-related tasks.
  • Physical activities including bending, stooping, reaching, and light lifting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work will take place in both office and dormitory settings.
  • A flexible schedule may be necessary.
  • Occasional interaction with students is expected.
