Position Overview
This role is integral to the Division of Public Assistance & Employment Services. The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of its diverse community by safeguarding and improving the lives of all individuals and families through assistance, collaboration, advocacy, outreach, and high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
The Community Support Specialist II is responsible for:
- Conducting thorough assessments of clients' medical and financial needs.
- Performing detailed interviews via phone to gather essential information.
- Facilitating appropriate referrals and determining eligibility for various federal and state assistance programs.
- Interpreting complex policies and regulations for clients and service providers.
- Managing a high caseload in a dynamic environment with multiple deadlines.
- Utilizing advanced IT systems and software for documentation and reporting purposes.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, along with one year of relevant professional experience in human services or a related field. Experience in public assistance programs is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of human behavior and social issues.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
