Audubon is currently seeking a Principal Process Engineer to enhance our engineering capabilities. The Principal Process Engineer will undertake process engineering tasks related to the design of systems, components, and structures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Independently create advanced specifications for project tasks that outline client performance expectations, specific component requirements, design criteria, relevant design codes, and vendor drawing specifications.
  • Generate engineering sketches, conduct engineering calculations, and develop analytical models for moderately complex project tasks.
  • Review and/or authorize vendor drawings to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
  • Establish realistic expectations and ensure that assigned projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Follow company quality standards and adhere to engineering review and approval processes.
  • Comply with all company and client health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards, as well as federal and local HSSE regulations.
  • Actively engage in hazard identification and observation programs, promptly reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to management.
  • Collaborate with the drafting/design team to develop and review engineering drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and conditions.
  • Inspect vendor facilities to ensure equipment meets specified requirements.
  • Prepare inquiries and purchase requisitions, along with bid evaluations related to equipment procurement.
  • Review engineering drawings and mathematical calculations for accuracy.
  • Implement safe design practices while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Plan and manage project workload, budgets, and resources, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Develop, review, and/or approve both conceptual and detailed engineering design packages.
  • Contribute to the formulation of internal design guidelines, specifications, and design control procedures.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing materials, costs, and time requirements, utilizing engineering knowledge and advanced mathematics.
  • Perform complex and repetitive calculations.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and/or construction schedules for projects.
  • Analyze various strategies, equations, and applications to ensure proper procedures are applied and resolve design and development challenges.
  • Manage client relationships and foster opportunities for repeat business.
  • Compile discipline-specific man-hour estimates and Total Installed Cost estimates based on project scope provided by clients.
  • Forecast man-hour requirements and schedules related to discipline-specific project scope.
  • Identify challenges and potential risks associated with planned projects, including construction costs, regulatory compliance, environmental hazards, and other factors.
  • Initiate risk management strategies and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
  • May lead large-scale multi-discipline projects and oversee daily workflow within a group or project; may delegate tasks, distribute workload, set deadlines, and report to management on project progress.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding team performance and any work-related issues, including those that may necessitate disciplinary actions.
  • Offer guidance and expertise on work techniques, best practices, and subject matter knowledge to colleagues.
  • Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge as assigned, adhering to regulations regarding PE sealing requirements specific to assigned projects.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an ABET Accredited Institution is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • PE license is required.
  • Field experience is required.
  • Industry experience is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience is preferred.
  • Experience as a lead engineer on large multi-discipline projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HYSYS, ProMax, or equivalent software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of conceptual through detailed design and P&ID development is preferred.
  • Understanding of codes (API, etc.) and Process design standards is preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve problems or achieve goals.
  • Proactive approach to resolving work-related challenges.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and seek clarification when necessary.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and direct projects to successful completion.
