Job Title: Associate Director, Donor Relations, MCDJob Summary:

Stanford University is seeking an Associate Director of Donor Relations to join the Medical Center Development (MCD) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive, individualized, and high-impact stewardship plans, and writing highly customized reports, letters, and other communications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with development officers to help define the stewardship strategy and maximize engagement for a portfolio of donors.
  • Meet with assigned development officers to plan and execute comprehensive, high-impact stewardship reporting and collateral for Stanford Medicine's donors.
  • Research, write, edit, and finalize reports, gift acknowledgment letters, and other stewardship collateral and correspondence for donors, coordinating with colleagues, faculty, and leadership to create personal and accurate communications.
  • Proactively monitor and manage the stewardship needs of donors, building a complete understanding of each donor's involvement and giving activity.
  • Coordinate with faculty, development officers, and MCD staff and University partners to develop and produce key, multidimensional stewardship deliverables, including written (hard copy, email or online content), video, or events.
  • Manage the reporting and data needs for donors, using multiple databases, including updating and tracking data, uploading documents and files, and entering project-related information to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage vendors/consultants on specific projects, as needed.
  • Maintain open channels of communication with stewardship colleagues across the university.
  • Assist in setting priorities for the Donor Relations team(s) and contribute to their overall effectiveness.
  • Develop knowledge of Stanford Medicine, as well as an understanding of how stewardship relates to the work of Stanford Medicine.
  • Support an environment of diversity and inclusion.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong client service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people at different levels of an organization, including students, faculty, top university administration, high-level donors, and volunteers.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and edit high-level reports and correspondence efficiently and under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to articulate science progress and impact in a way that is understandable and meaningful to various constituencies.
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities and projects, with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Tact, discretion, and experience handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work together with courage, collaboration, communication, and compassion. A healthy respect for others is an essential, shared value.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and database applications.
Work Environment:

May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Travel may be required.
