Position Overview
The role of the Information Technology Technician is to guarantee the smooth operation of computer systems, enabling end users to perform their tasks efficiently. This involves receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively addressing user support requests. Problem-solving may require the application of approved diagnostic tools and may necessitate hands-on assistance at the user’s workstation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a small, uniform site independently or assist in the management of a larger system.
Conduct initial problem identification and resolution for all issues.
Refer unresolved matters to the appropriate support teams.
Focus on software support within network activities, primarily in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Monitor and follow up on all outstanding issues to ensure timely and effective resolution or to update clients on the current status.
Inform relevant management of priority issues and their resolutions.
Utilize necessary tools to monitor servers and carry out daily responsibilities.
Engage with colleagues, management, clients, and others in a professional and courteous manner.
Adhere to all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Document and track help desk requests and the problem-solving process, including all decisions made, and brief IT team members on resolutions.
Create help sheets and a knowledge base for future reference and user assistance.
Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Be available for support calls at all times.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2-4 years of experience in a related field.
Certifications from accredited institutions in computer systems.
Understanding of basic computer hardware and software applications.
Strong organizational capabilities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in database applications and administration systems, particularly Microsoft Office.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Must be a motivated, service-oriented individual with attention to detail.
Enthusiasm for challenges and new initiatives is essential.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are required.
Proven decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated internal customer service skills.
Good presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Detail-oriented with the physical capability to lift 60 lbs.
Willingness to travel as necessary.
Manual dexterity is required for using desktop computers and peripherals.
Overtime may be required.
