POSITION SUMMARY:
The Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role in collaborating with process engineers, supervisors, and plant management to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of electrical and process automation systems. This role emphasizes continuous improvement and the integration of advanced engineering principles, aiming to identify best practices and act as a catalyst for achieving superior results within the assigned facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancement in manufacturing operations.
- Develop and refine existing standards, structures, systems, and equipment to optimize performance.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to production and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of improvement.
- Coordinate improvement initiatives with relevant supervisory staff to ensure alignment with operational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess a four-year degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Material Science, coupled with a minimum of three years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting. A strong background in advanced process and factory automation technologies, along with knowledge of production quality methodologies, is essential.
Experience in various manufacturing processes, including scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, and maintenance, is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of steel manufacturing techniques and the operation of heavy machinery.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Candidates must exhibit strong training and coaching abilities, along with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail, self-motivation, and the capacity to engage with personnel at all organizational levels are crucial for success in this role.
This position reports directly to the department superintendent and involves collaboration with various functional groups to support automation technology training and development initiatives for all employees.
