Medical Support Specialist

As a Medical Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician and/or Designee. Your primary responsibilities will include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording pertinent information in patients' medical records.
Key Responsibilities:- Interview patients and measure vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Record information in patients' medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Assist clinicians with patient care, including administering medications and performing routine laboratory tests.
- Inventories, orders, and replenishes medical supplies and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Schedules appointments, performs clinical tasks, and completes appropriate forms as required by the department.
- May be responsible for administering medications, including injections, and cleaning, processing, sterilizing, and checking instruments.
- Performs computer data entry functions, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Performs clinical/technical skills specific to the department, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
You will practice customer service standards as defined by Kaiser Permanente and specified department, anticipating patients' needs and taking proactive steps to meet those needs. You will listen attentively, take responsibility within scope, and ensure issues are resolved promptly.

You will manage difficult or conflict situations constructively, seeking appropriate assistance when needed. You will take accountability for your actions, act as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members, and actively participate in departmental professional development activities.
Basic Qualifications:- Minimum six (6) months of experience or successful completion of Kaiser Permanente externship.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information.
- Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
- Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use personal computer.
- Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level I required.
