Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Grant Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records related to grants. This role demands a meticulous professional skilled in managing diverse funding sources within a structured accounting framework.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations.
  • Stay informed about grant guidelines, including federal Uniform Guidance.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to grant managers and the accounting team to ensure adherence to grant requirements throughout the lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with program staff to develop grant proposals, offering financial insights and budget forecasts.
  • Monitor fiscal compliance of subcontractors and sub-recipients, conducting reviews and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for grants, discussing findings with program staff.

Grant Management and Accounting Duties:
In addition to grant oversight, the Senior Grant Accountant will:

  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grant financial documentation for compliance and historical reference.
  • Oversee grant-related accounts receivable and payable to ensure effective cash flow management.
  • Support program directors in monitoring grant budgets and fulfilling their financial reporting requirements.
  • Execute general accounting tasks related to grants, including journal entries and expense allocations.
  • Review and process reimbursement requests from subrecipients, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines.
  • Assist in annual audit preparations and respond to auditor inquiries.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Nonprofit experience with a minimum of five years in managing federal, state, and local grants.
  • A strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, particularly in nonprofit revenue recognition.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
