Job Summary

The Director of Social Services is a key leadership position at Telecare, responsible for overseeing the Social Services Department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services to our members. This role requires a strong understanding of psychiatric illness, the ability to identify symptoms and severity of illness, and the ability to develop and write policies and procedures related to the care of persons with serious mental illness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and direct the Social Services Department, providing casework services to members and their families.
  • Manage a team of social workers and discharge planners, ensuring effective coordination of admission and discharge processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local hospitals and agencies to facilitate admission and discharge of members.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local licensing regulations and requirements.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program within the Social Services Department.
  • Supervise and coordinate student intern placements within the Social Services Department.
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff in strategic planning activities to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the facility.

Requirements

  • Two years of direct service experience with persons with mental illness and two years of supervisory experience with both professional and non-professional staff in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
  • A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or MFCC license from the State of California, and a valid California driver's license and insurability.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 30 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include occasional bending, pushing, pulling, squatting, climbing, and lifting items weighing 25 pounds or less, as well as frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, and simple and power grasping. The position requires manual dexterity, repetition, and occasional driving.
