Senior Clinical Psychologist

Job Overview
Under the guidance of management, within a State correctional institution or outpatient facility under the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, you will undertake complex and significant responsibilities related to psychological evaluation and treatment. You will also act as a department-wide authority and consultant in a specialized area of psychology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments and develop treatment plans for inmates.
- Ensure the safety and security of individuals and property within the facility.
- Supervise inmate behavior and maintain order.
- Provide expert consultation in your area of specialization.
Minimum Qualifications:
License: A valid Psychologist license issued by the California Board of Psychology is required, along with a Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
Applicants who are not yet licensed by the California Board of Psychology may still apply and will be allowed to take the examination. However, they must obtain a valid license within three years of employment to continue in the position.
Experience Requirements:
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- One year of experience in California state service as a Psychologist Clinical, Correctional Facility, or Staff Psychologist (any specialty); or
- Two years of postdoctoral experience in psychology involving assessment and treatment, along with either training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.
Individuals eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered.
Working Conditions:
Travel may be required as part of the role.

Verification of Minimum Qualifications will occur prior to interviews. If education is used to meet qualifications, unofficial transcripts must be submitted for verification.
New hires are subject to a background investigation process and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment.
