POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Project Manager will oversee and implement project controls and management across multiple disciplines.

Key responsibilities include supporting a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer, managing quantity collection, contract administration, project planning, scheduling, procurement, and project reporting. This role necessitates collaboration with all stakeholders involved in the project, including clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and ongoing strategic communication with project management regarding project status.


Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervise and coordinate the majority of field office personnel, which may include engineers, office managers, document control specialists, schedulers, procurement staff, warehouse personnel, and other support roles on the project.

Maintain a professional demeanor in all client interactions. Provide clients with required contractual reports (weekly, monthly, and scheduling updates).

Adhere to the Corporate Safety Plan and site-specific safety protocols. Develop quantity calculation methodologies to accurately assess the percentage of completed or installed materials. Establish a systematic approach for creating and reviewing work plans and packages.

Ensure effective communication of the site quality plan and timely completion of inspections and quality documentation for final turnover.

Manage the compilation, processing, and client approval of daily labor timesheets. Distribute weekly Average Labor Rate reports to frontline supervisors.

Train craft and staff employees on completing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). Participate in or lead job site safety reviews, toolbox meetings, and safety training sessions.

Order and schedule material deliveries while developing procurement status reports. Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on-site. Conduct material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents. Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.

Direct Field Engineers in gathering and preparing data for submission to clients, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and for internal use.

Oversee the creation and review of field-issued purchase orders and subcontracts, and prepare material buyout takeoffs from issued construction drawings.

Manage procurement and subcontract administration functions performed from the home office. Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.

Maintain comprehensive project recordkeeping and correspondence functions, including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, transmittals, memorandums, and other required correspondence.

Establish and closely monitor project controls, including productivity tracking, average labor rates, indirect scheduling, equipment logs, risk and opportunity logs, etc.

Create and maintain the master project schedule. Generate change orders and as-built data for review by the Project Manager. Drive the planning process through the master schedule, including 6-week, 3-week, 1-week, and manpower curves. Assist the Project Manager with accounting, job costs, and work in progress (WIP) updates:
Support the budgeting process by converting estimates into standard phase codes. Notify the Project Manager and Home Office of any trends regarding labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs.

Effectively manage the cost forecasting process for the entire project (labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment). Identify trends and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

Establish cash flow forecasts and curves to ensure positive cash flow for the project. Act as the primary company representative in the absence of or as directed by the Project Manager or Project Engineer. Understand all provisions, terms, and scope of the Prime contract. Develop and prepare the Schedule of Values and all invoices for clients. Lead, manage, and mentor direct reports.

SUPERVISORY:
Support a crew of up to 100 personnel for short durations as needed. Supervise one or more Field Engineers and/or support staff.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar capacity on heavy industrial projects is essential.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations is crucial. Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors while setting a personal example of safe behavior. Provide constructability and cost-saving alternatives during the design phase of projects. Ability to access all areas of a construction site in diverse climates and environments. Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative. Strong work ethic, committed to completing tasks correctly the first time. Commitment to ethics and integrity, with a passion for safety to ensure that no one is harmed. Leadership skills with the ability to delegate tasks and provide support as needed to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.

Willingness to travel extensively and relocate to various project locations for extended periods (typically 6-12 months). Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Maintain strong relationships with all team members and supervisors.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift performing physically demanding tasks in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.

Must maintain physical strength and stamina; utilize arms, hands, and legs fully; push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to complete job tasks.

Stamina to perform these tasks repetitively for extended periods.

Uncontrolled environmental conditions:
Constantly changing weather and site conditions may present moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment is mandatory (including but not limited to safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, vests, etc.).

Move around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.

Must be able to work at heights and comply with all safety and fall-protection requirements; must be able to wear and utilize all necessary safety equipment for work at heights.

Evaluate information based on measurable standards; recognize details in objects or drawings and identify slight differences in shapes and shadings.

Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings. Maintain good balance and work at heights. Possess good vision (either naturally or with correction). Hear well (either naturally or with correction). Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

HOURS:
This is a Full-Time position typically requiring 50 hours of work per week. Schedule may vary based on project requirements.

TRAVEL:
Travel may be required up to 90%. Position necessitates presence directly on the project site with intermittent travel to the employee's residence.
