POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Project Manager will oversee and implement project controls and management across multiple disciplines.

Key responsibilities include supporting a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer, managing quantity collection, contract administration, project planning and scheduling, procurement, and project reporting. This role necessitates collaboration with all stakeholders involved in the project, including clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and ongoing strategic communication with project management regarding project status.


Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


Supervise and manage a majority of the field office personnel, which may include engineers, office managers, document control staff, schedulers, procurement teams, warehouse staff, and other support personnel on the project.

Represent the company professionally in all client interactions.
Deliver contract-required reports to clients (weekly, monthly, schedule updates).

Adhere to the Corporate Safety Plan and site-specific safety protocols.
Develop quantity calculation formulas to accurately assess the percentage of completed or installed materials.
Establish a process for creating and reviewing work plans and work packages.

Ensure the site quality plan is communicated effectively, and all inspections and quality documentation are completed promptly for final turnover.

Manage the compilation, processing, and client approval of daily labor timesheets.
Compile and distribute the Average Labor Rate weekly to front-line supervision.

Train craft and staff employees on completing Job Safety Analysis (JSA's). Participate in or lead jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training sessions.

Order and schedule material deliveries, developing procurement status reports.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
Conduct material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.

Direct Field Engineers to gather and prepare data for submission to customers, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and for internal use.

Manage the creation and review of field-issued purchase orders and subcontracts, preparing material buyout takeoffs from issued construction drawings.

Oversee home office procurement and subcontract administration functions.
Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.

Maintain all project recordkeeping and correspondence functions, including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, transmittals, memorandums, and other contract-required correspondence.

Create and monitor project controls such as productivity tracking, including Average Labor Rate, indirect scheduling, equipment schedules and logs, risk and opportunity logs, etc.

Create and maintain the master project schedule.
Generate change orders and as-built data for review by the Project Manager.
Drive the planning process through the master schedule, 6-week, 3-week, 1-week, and manpower curves.

Administering Accounting/Job Costs/Work in Progress (WIP) Updates:
Assist the Project Manager with these activities.
Lead the budgeting process, converting estimates to Standard Phase codes.
Notify the Project Manager and Home Office of trends regarding labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs.

Accurately manage the cost forecasting process for the entire project (labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment). Identify trends and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

Establish cash flow forecasts and curves to ensure positive cash flow for the project.
Act as the primary company representative in the absence of or as directed by the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
Understand all provisions, terms, and scope of the Prime contract.
Develop and prepare the Schedule of Values and all invoices for the customer.
Manage, lead, and mentor direct reports.

SUPERVISORY:
Support a crew of up to 100 individuals for short periods if necessary.
Lead one or more Field Engineers and/or support staff.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar role on heavy industrial projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on-site.
Set a personal example of safe behavior.
Provide constructability and cost-saving alternatives during the design phase of projects.
Ability to access all areas of a construction site in diverse climates and environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift performing physically demanding tasks in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.

Must maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully; push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.

Endurance to perform these tasks repetitively for several hours.

Uncontrolled Environmental Conditions:
Constant changes in weather and site conditions.

This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.). Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.

May need to work at heights and must comply with all safety and fall-protection requirements; must be able to wear and utilize all safety equipment required for work at heights.

Evaluate information based on measurable standards; see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.

Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
Maintain good balance and work at heights.

Possess good vision (either naturally or with correction). Hear well (either naturally or with correction). Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.


HOURS:
This position is a Full-Time role, typically requiring 50 hours of work per week.

Schedule is subject to project requirements.

TRAVEL:
Travel may be required up to 90%.

Position necessitates presence directly on the Project Site with intermittent travel to the residence of record.
