About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Hygiene Manager to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan. As a key member of our health and safety team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of industrial hygiene programs and policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement industrial hygiene programs and policies to prevent occupational health hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative health risk assessments, analyze operational procedures, equipment, and materials, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Inspect work areas, identify non-conformities, and develop and recommend controls to ensure safe work practices.
  • Manage the process of reviewing, approving, or rejecting chemicals for use on site, and serve as a technical expert in chemical analysis, equipment, and processes.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan's health and safety policies, ISO standards, OSHA regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist site management in complying with Freeport-McMoRan's health and safety policies, OSHA regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage projects and supervise front-line or other health and safety personnel.
  • Prepare reports and present them to management in a clear and concise manner.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and other stakeholders on health and safety-related matters.
Requirements
  • Leading or supervising personnel and/or projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline, and three years of experience in industrial hygiene, or a Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline, and one year of experience in industrial hygiene.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty pounds during the course of the workday.
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.
