Position Overview:
Our Virginia Beach Highways Team is in search of a skilled Project Engineer to take charge of a team of engineers and designers. This role entails the application of engineering principles to effectively manage and execute various assignments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design enhancements for transportation infrastructure including roadways, interchanges, and pedestrian pathways.
  • Evaluate survey data, maps, and other relevant information to strategize project planning.
  • Conduct design calculations and utilize design software for project execution.
  • Prepare detailed construction cost estimates.
  • Assist in the creation of engineering documentation for project bidding and construction.
  • Engage in project planning, budgeting, and monitoring activities.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment and project success.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee timely project delivery while maintaining quality standards.
  • Oversee project sub-consultants and coordinate with in-house support teams.
  • Organize and manage detailed phases of engineering tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from an accredited program.
  • 8-15 years of relevant experience in engineering design.
  • Proficiency in discipline-specific design software, including OpenRoads 3D Modeling and MicroStation.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and excellent communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience collaborating with local government entities.

Work Environment:
The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, with occasional fieldwork required under varying weather conditions. The role may involve light lifting as necessary.
