Position Title
Synthetic Research Chemist, Performance Colorants & Ingredients

Position Overview
This role is pivotal in the invention, development, and commercialization of new growth products by proposing and synthesizing innovative molecules and polymers tailored to meet customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong inclination towards experimental work, adeptness in formulating solutions to complex challenges, and the ability to communicate findings effectively. Responsibilities will primarily encompass ideation, proof of concept, and the development and validation of novel technologies, while also supporting regulatory, intellectual property, pilot plant, process development, and product support as necessary. This research and development-focused position may involve overseeing at least one technical administrative associate and will require occasional visits to customers and production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose and synthesize innovative molecules to address customer challenges.
  • Lead technical ideation and execution for impactful innovation projects.
  • Invent, protect, and implement key growth products.
  • Establish oneself as a technology leader in critical technical domains.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, safety protocols, and manage technical associates.
  • Coordinate projects with cross-functional teams from inception to market launch.
  • Support existing business and acquire new opportunities through problem-solving and product development.
  • Engage in learning and applying new technologies and methodologies.
  • Ensure sustainable solutions through intellectual property protection.
  • Actively participate in laboratory safety and quality initiatives.
Qualifications - Required
  • Ph.D. in a chemical discipline with substantial experience in organic synthesis.
  • Proven track record as an experimentalist utilizing the scientific method.
  • Familiarity with characterization techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, UPLC, and IR spectroscopy.
  • Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills evidenced by publications, presentations, and patents.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Exemplary collaborative spirit, leadership, critical thinking, and organizational abilities.
Qualifications - Preferred
  • 2-3 years of industry experience or postdoctoral research.
  • Background in polymer, materials, or dye chemistry.
  • Knowledge of consumer packaged goods, polyurethanes, or agricultural products.
  • Successful history of bringing new technologies to market.
  • Experience in project management.
