Role Summary:

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for the design and enhancement of new and existing products, focusing on innovation and cost efficiency while ensuring alignment with sales and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all stages of product development, from conceptual design to production readiness.
  • Oversee the development, documentation, and management of project plans from initial concepts through to production.
  • Coordinate new development initiatives, managing timelines, budgets, tooling, and compliance with agency standards.
  • Utilize solid modeling techniques to uphold design integrity.
  • Conduct evaluations on products concerning stress analysis, fluid dynamics, material strength, metallurgy, and machine design principles.
  • Plan and allocate budgets for comprehensive product development projects.
  • Review engineering drawings for precision, dimensional accuracy, and completeness.
  • Participate in product testing and validation at national laboratories to meet approval requirements for new and revised designs.
  • Foster a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and reporting hazardous conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in resolving complex technical challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and terminology.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, stamping, and coating applications.
  • Experience in prototyping and testing mechanical devices.
  • Understanding of agency testing and approval requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Creo Software.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design or a related area.
  • Familiarity with sprinkler system and plumbing standards is preferred.
