About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at RTX. As a key member of our Propeller Systems Engineering group, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of new and legacy propeller products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and damage tolerance analyses on various propeller products, including domes, yokes, hubs, bolted joints, and control housings.
  • Assess static and fatigue requirements for propeller products and lead analysis activities for the establishment of a propeller system major inspection interval.
  • Develop and document analysis conclusions to establish relevant design requirements and/or not to exceed in-service limits.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
  • Generate reports for engineering work performed based on analysis and test activities.
  • Interact with internal customers, external customers, vendors, and suppliers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight.
Requirements
  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
  • Experience with FEA software, such as MSC Software (Nastran/Patran), NX Nastran, or equivalent.
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D modeling software.
  • Experience writing technical reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Structural analysis experience with MSC Software (Nastran/Patran), NX Nastran, or equivalent FEA software package.
  • Experience with dynamic/rotating components.
  • 5 years of design and analysis experience of aerospace structural components.
  • Experience with Siemens NX/Unigraphics or similar CAD software.
  • Experience with stress-life fatigue analysis.
  • Experience with analysis of bolted joints.
  • Experience with Damage Tolerance Analysis (NASGRO).
