About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Embassy Suites in Rockford, IL. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all food items are prepared according to standard recipe cards, maintaining portion control and minimizing waste.
  • Manage food stock levels within the culinary department areas, ensuring sufficient quantity and quality in relation to hotel occupancy and function forecasts.
  • Adhere to all company and hotel policies and procedures, promoting a culture of excellence and consistency.
  • Develop creative menus and prepare food for each outlet, including banquets, while staying up-to-date with the latest product trends.
  • Understand market needs and desires for each outlet, ensuring menus reflect those needs and provide true value for money.
  • Motivate and lead the culinary team, providing positive feedback on work performance and delegating responsibilities as required.
  • Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints, ensuring exceptional service and a positive experience.
Requirements
  • Culinary degree or related work experience, or 4 years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area with 2 years in a management position.
  • Strong leadership and a professional image.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure with poise and finesse.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependability and regular attendance.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
