  • Record and track patient vital statistics, including height and weight.
  • Collect patient specimens for testing.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Conduct waived testing, including blood glucose and urine dip tests.
  • Assess patient vision using a Snellen chart.
  • Assist medical professionals in obtaining tissue samples and biopsies.
  • Support or restrain patients during procedures as necessary.
  • Select and pass surgical instruments.
  • Deliver meals to patients and ensure proper service.
  • Administrative Duties: Schedule, modify, or cancel patient appointments as needed.
  • Guide patients to the appropriate departments.
  • Inquire about patients' health issues and medical concerns.
  • Conduct initial assessments of patient conditions.
  • Complete necessary maintenance and referral forms.
  • Obtain patient consent signatures.
  • Document all actions taken during emergency situations.
  • Transport patients to designated areas as required.
  • Route specimens to the laboratory efficiently.
  • Transport laboratory specimens and procedure trays as needed.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure availability of necessary equipment for procedures and examinations.
  • Assemble and disassemble medical instruments and equipment.
  • Check and replenish emergency supply inventories.
  • Verify functionality of defibrillators.
  • Organize and prepare examination rooms.
  • Select appropriate instruments and equipment for procedures.
  • Set up surgical trays and instruments.
  • Maintain cleanliness in treatment and procedure areas.
  • Administrative Support: Mentor and train new or less experienced staff members.
  • Respond to call lights and assist as needed.
  • Manage communication at the nurses' station.
  • Utilize paging systems to locate personnel.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed, including EKG tasks.
Qualifications:
Experience
  • At least six months (1,040 hours) of experience in Hospital Acute Care, Emergency Department, or as an EMT/Paramedic within the last two years.
  • Current KP Coalition employees may have this experience requirement waived.
Education
  • N/A
Licenses and Certifications
  • Paramedic Certificate (California) OR Emergency Medical Technician Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support Certification
Additional Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Familiarity with PC or mainframe systems is preferred (training available).
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to perform 12 lead EKG.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Additional Notes:

  • This position requires on-call availability, with varying days and hours.
  • Weekend shifts are mandatory.
