Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Market Education Director, the Clinical Educator collaborates with nursing leadership and staff across various departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate, and revise educational programs for nursing and non-nursing personnel. This role is essential in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff within Tenet Healthcare. The Clinical Educator is responsible for executing a comprehensive education program tailored to their assigned units while aligning with Tenet's educational goals and vision. Educational initiatives may include orientation, continuing education, and in-service training, along with consultation on processes, performance, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Education

• Address the educational requirements for assigned units/clinics, incorporating classroom instruction, clinical experiences, and learning technologies.

• Implement Tenet's comprehensive education programs to fulfill the orientation and ongoing competency needs of nursing staff, with a focus on specific units/clinics, supporting the Tenet model of professional nursing practice.

• Ensure all program/course revisions comply with Department of Nursing and regulatory standards. Stay updated on current research and national education practice standards, executing and revising programs based on adult learning principles and organizational theory consistent with Tenet's philosophy.

• Provide consultation to enhance continuing education, professional development, and mentorship opportunities.

• Deliver and coordinate additional educational programs as directed (e.g., Grand Rounds, in-services, continuing education, job-specific and specialty curricula) to support the competence and professional growth of nursing staff.

• Offer leadership to preceptors and serve as a role model through educational programs, ongoing coaching, and mentoring.

• Facilitate nurse residents' development and actively mentor them in their professional growth and clinical practice.

• Participate in continuing education provider unit learning, evaluating nursing education activities that qualify for continuing education credit. Stay informed about changes to market/facility policies and procedures and the expectations of the educator role.

• Assist in the development of clinical policies and procedures as needed.

• Provide guidance, resources, and knowledge for the professional growth of others.

• Mentor colleagues, other nurses, students, and others as appropriate.

• Engage in quality performance improvement activities.

• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Critical Care Services

• Cover services including, but not limited to:

• Telemetry/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Units

• Transitional Care Unit

• IV Team

• Monitor Technicians

• Cardiology Services (Cath Lab/EKG/CVRU)

• Responsible for projects such as:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

• EKG Training

• Stroke and Heart Programs

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
3. Current State Licenses & Certifications.

• Ensure compliance with licensing, certification, accreditation, and other regulatory bodies for educational programs.

• Identify factors affecting staff performance and collaborate with management to implement necessary changes.

• Accept committee and market workgroup appointments and actively participate to drive improvements in patient care and the Tenet Healthcare System.

• Cultivate positive relationships with academic programs to enhance Tenet Healthcare's image.

• Demonstrate respect for others and adhere to AIDET principles at all times.
