Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Market Education Director, the Clinical Educator collaborates with nursing leadership and staff across various departments to assess, design, implement, facilitate, evaluate, and refine educational programs for nursing and non-nursing personnel. This role is crucial in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff within Tenet Healthcare. The Clinical Educator develops a comprehensive educational strategy for assigned units while aligning with Tenet's educational objectives and vision. Educational initiatives typically encompass orientation, continuing education, and in-service training. Additional responsibilities may include performance consultation and contributions to organizational committees and workgroups.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Education

• Address the educational requirements for designated units/clinics, incorporating classroom instruction, clinical experiences, and learning technologies.

• Execute Tenet's comprehensive educational programs to fulfill the orientation and continuous competency needs of nursing staff, with a focus on specific units/clinics, supporting the Tenet model of professional nursing practice.

• Ensure all program/course modifications comply with nursing department standards and regulatory requirements. Stay informed on current research and national education practice standards. Programs are developed and updated based on adult learning principles and organizational learning theories consistent with Tenet's philosophy.

• Provide consultation to enhance continuing education and professional development opportunities.

• Coordinate and deliver additional educational programs as needed (e.g., Grand Rounds, in-services, continuing education, job-specific and specialty curricula) to support the competence and professional growth of nursing staff.

• Offer leadership to preceptors and serve as a role model through educational initiatives and ongoing mentorship.

• Facilitate nurse residency programs and actively mentor participants to foster their professional and clinical development.

• Engage in continuing education provider unit learning and evaluate nursing education activities eligible for continuing education credit. Stay updated on changes to market/facility policies and the expectations of the educator role.

• Assist in the development of clinical policies and procedures as required.

• Provide guidance and resources to support the professional growth of others.

• Mentor colleagues, nurses, students, and others as appropriate.

• Participate in quality performance improvement initiatives.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Critical Care Services

• Responsible for various services, including but not limited to:

• Telemetry/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Units

• Transitional Care Unit

• IV Team

• Monitor Technicians

• Cardiology Services (Cath Lab/EKG/CVRU)

• Accountable for projects such as:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

• EKG Training

• Stroke and Cardiac Programs

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
3. Current State Licenses & Certifications.
