POSITION TITLE: Facilities Custodian

REPORTS TO: School Principal/Facilities Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors, while supporting the overall educational mission through effective facility management.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

Conducts regular inspections of school facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.Performs routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing various areas within the school.Maintains accurate records of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for daily operations.Responds promptly to cleaning emergencies and special requests from staff.Assists in setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.Monitors and maintains the cleanliness of restrooms, hallways, classrooms, and common areas.Identifies and reports maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel for timely resolution.Follows safety protocols and procedures to ensure a hazard-free environment for all.Participates in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to facility maintenance.Collaborates with staff to promote a positive and clean school environment.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical and visual activities or demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting.Requires normal attention with clarity of vision at various distances and the ability to distinguish colors.Involves light to moderate physical demands with regular lifting of light items and occasional lifting of heavier items.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Typical indoor conditions, with occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and other materials.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work is preferred.

Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.Basic math skills for inventory management.Effective communication skills to interact with staff and students.Must possess a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
